UPDATE: C.
M. Russell Auction
Karen, once again won the 3rd place award
for her exhibit at the C. M. Russell Show in Great Falls Montana.
"Before she placed her first painting up
for display Wednesday evening, Karen Vance had art collectors stopping
by her exhibition room hoping to snag her work before the next eager
buyer.
By Sunday, the Colorado painter had sold all but a few small
paintings. "I wish I would have had more paintings to
sell," she said. "I think I could have sold even
more."
The popularity of Vance's oil and watercolor
mountain-and-wildflower landscapes was somewhat of an anomaly.
Many of the artists and gallery owners displaying work in the Heritage
Inn as a part of this week's Western art show were disappointed with
sales.
Collector's seemed more cautious than in previous record
selling years.
Steve Zabel, owner of Montana Trails
Gallery in Bozeman, has had an exhibit room for the past 10
auctions. "This year there were fewer people at the show,
... and sales were slower than in the past. I think if it's a
really good painting, people were willing to pay for it." he
said." - The Great Falls Tribune
