"A
Grand Afternoon"
"Grand Lake is one of the most
beautiful areas of Colorado.
An old volcanic
crater holds this magnificent body
of water and is said to be at least 400ft. deep.
It is located on the Southwest comer of rocky mountain National Park,
and Mt.
Craig, better known as "Mt.
Baldy ", stands sentry over it.
My easel and I stood on the dock at Point Park to paint this view."

Treasures"
"The inspiration for this painting came after my friends and I hiked to St.
Louis Lake, above the Winter Park/Fraser Valley, high in the Colorado,
mountains. It's a beautiful hike - through the evergreen forests, across
pristine mountain streams, and through wide, lush mountain meadows dotted
with Columbine, Indian Paintbrush, and other wildflowers, too numerous to
name. If you've not taken this hike, you must do so.
It will take you to a place you’ve never been before, both physically
and spiritually." |

"Sunset
Ridge"
"This is a view at sunset from County Road No.
83 looking South, along the Fraser River towards Berthoud Pass, James, Parry
and Eva Peaks, and the Winter Park Ski Area.
The view looks across the "Old Horn Ranch" and if you look closely,
you can see some cattle in the background on the left.
Often times, a winter painting can seem so cold.
What attracted me to this scene at sunset was the play of cool and
warm colors ... I particularly liked the warm hues of the winter grasses in
the foreground, lending a contrast to the cool colors of the snow shadows
and mountains in the background." |

"High
Country Summer"
"This painting captures everything that I love about the hike to Columbine
Lake. That is Mt. Neva standing guard over the lake catching the afternoon
sun. The flowers are spectacular, - Columbines all along the trail,
paintbrush, elephant heads, Parry's primrose and many, many more.
The hike to Columbine Lake is one of my most favorite hikes in all of
Grand County. It's an easy hike, only 980 vertical feet and 2.5 miles to the
lake from the trail head at Meadow Creek Reservoir." |

Summer"
"The
hike to St. Louis Lake is one of my favorites.
Along the way, you will gently climb through alpine
forests and several meadows covered in
wildflowers. At the top, you
will find the lake, shining like a
jewel and protected by granite
outcroppings surrounding it. It's a beautiful and intimate landscape ... and
a perfect place for a picnic." |

"Morning
Flight"
“One of
the most scenic ways to experience this beautiful valley is to take a
balloon flight! The best time
to “fly" is in the early morning or evening when the air is still and the
warm glow of the sun is reflected in the high snow fields.
There are several experienced pilots in the valley that offer these
wonderful adventures. From such an unusual perspective, suspended above the
Valley beneath a colorful sphere of warm rising air, the views are awesome.” |

"Evening
Light"
"In April of this past year, I sat on the
tailgate of my "Artmobile" , and captured this scene. Mt.
Baker is in the "Never Summer Range " above the Kawuneeche Valley -
the headwaters of the Colorado River; near the Western entrance of Rocky
Mountain National Park. It was
a beautiful setting. I could hear
the trickle of the headwaters as it thawed in the warm sun of late
afternoon. The sun cast a long dusky shadow across the valley and a glowing
shape of light on Mt. Baker. I wanted
to portray this feeling of warm light into cool shadow, Winter into Spring
and daylight into dusk" |
